POSITION TITLE:           AUTISM SUPPORT ASSISTANT

LOCATION:                     Toronto Region

SALARY RANGE:             $14.84 – $18.54 per hour

POSITION STATUS:        Part-time

HOURS OF WORK:           Flexible (including evenings, weekends

                                        and holidays)

CLOSING DATE:              4:30 p.m., April 2^nd, 2010

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager, the Autism Support Assistant will assist the Autism Support Associate in providing support, coaching and training in the areas of: social/life/academic skills, communication, behaviour management, vocational and leisure activities, to Individuals with autism residing in Toronto.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have proven practical experience supporting people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, along with strong skills in the areas of verbal and written communication, motivation and teamwork, the ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations.

Post-secondary degree/diploma, preferably in Human Services, and 1 year experience supporting Individuals having developmental disabilities are required.  CPI certification, First Aid, CPR Pharmacology and crisis intervention skills are required. Knowledge of Autism/Dual Diagnosis/Mental Health are considered assets.

This position requires the ability and willingness to work flexible hours.
