Location: St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 484 Water Street, Newmarket This workshop is offered on a monthly basis, free of charge. We have reserved spaces open for families, and staff associated with Kerry's Place. The morning session will begin with an Introduction to Autism, (9 - 12:00pm) a presentation to introduce support staff and families to the Autism Spectrum Diagnosis. There is an impactful Sensory Simulation, followed by discussion of what it might be like to live in a world that is constantly offending one's ability to sort out the world around them. Strategies are also reviewed to help people supporting an individual with an ASD, learn to be more effective in their interactions. This workshop is modified to meet the needs of the audience. The afternoon session provided by the CHAP Coordinator, will review what respite is, roles & responsibilities of the respite worker, a discussion of recreational activities and a brief introduction to behavioural strategies. This is a more generic training session for people with special needs. For registration and information Click Here |
